From the APRE Desk
Happy New Year to you all and welcome to 2023! Hopefully you had a restful and safe holiday from the school routine. We’re excited to have our school community back together again for a new school year.
The staff have been busy preparing for another busy year.
Part of our preparations meant that we participated in a number of Professional Development opportunities. One in particular, was our Spiritual staff formation day held last Friday. Our Religion focus for 2023, is “Mercy Matters;” We discussed the history of our Mercy school, the key contributions made by Catherine McAuley, the importance of being of service to others in our community and where to for our school heading into 2023. We explored and shared the meaning behind the Cornerstone values and what actions we can take to share the Spiritual and Corporal works of Mercy with our students. We will continue to work together with our students and the wider school community in order to walk in Jesus’ footsteps by serving each other and putting our Mission and Vision into action.
A very practical way YOU can assist us is by being part of our Pastoral Care group for 2023. It is a very important, simple and effective method of contributing to our school community and one which is very much valued and appreciated. If you’re making a lasagne, spaghetti bolognaise, quiche or any type of family meal, please consider making two so that we can store one here at school in the freezer and then we’re able to support our families who are in need. Let’s be positive role models to our students by showing that we can make someone’s day brighter by a simple act of kindness. Thankyou for your support!
Sacramental Program 2023 – It’s not too late to join us!
We will plan to prepare for, and celebrate, the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Communion in Terms 1 and 2 this year. If you’d like to enrol your child/ren in the 2023 Sacramental Program, collect a copy of the Enrolment form with a copy of your child/ren’s Baptismal certificate, from the school office or the Parish office. The Parent information session will be held on Thursday 16 February at 7pm in the Cathedral centre. Cluster groups will then begin on either Thursdays 3.30pm or Sundays 10.15am.
Have a great week and thanks for reading!
