2023 Focus Areas in Teaching and Learning

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful time on holidays spent with family and friends. This week I thought I'd outline a few key areas we are working on in Teaching and Learning for 2023

Reading

In 2023 at SSPS, we will support our students to be the best readers they can possibly be! With the two main aims of our project being ‘Academic success for all’ and ‘Quality instruction’, we will all support your children to beome successful, independent readers. Over the coming weeks I’ll include some ideas on how you can support your children with reading at home too.

Learner Qualities

We continue to embed our Learner Qualities in all we do here at SSPS in 2023. Whether it be showing determination at the Cross Country, or asking questions about the life cycle in Science, our learner qualities are beginning to become common language for us all!

Revised Curriculum

This year we begin to familiarise ourselves with the changes to the curriculum as a result of the national review. We are focussing on familiarising ourselves with what the revised curriculum looks like, as well as beginning to plan using the revised curriculum. We will not be teaching or assessing with the new curriculum until 2024, which will give our educators time to prepare for the changes. More detail on the rollout can be found here.

Have a wonderful week!
