Life in the Library

Term 3 in the Library

We celebrate amazing children’s literature all term!

The 2023 theme for Book Week is “Read Grow Inspire”. We will explore the ideas that this theme brings to our reading and enjoyment of books. The official poster features a seahorse which in some cultures signifies growth. The artist, Matt Ottley challenges us to find an object or an element in the artwork for every letter in the alphabet!

We will be enjoying the notable and short-listed titles chosen by the Children’s Book Council judges. Feel free to look at these books on display in the library.

Book Week Dress-Up Parade

Our Dress up parade will be held on Friday 25th August. Students are asked to think how their costume connects to the theme.

Book Week Performance

All students will see the Book Week presentation WAY TOO COOL! from Perform! Education on Wednesday 30th August. Four of the CBCA award nominated books will be woven into a story and brought to life by 2 actors. This experience of story enriches and deepens students’ understanding of the themes, messages and ideas found in the books.

Year 5/6 Parent and Student Book Club

We will meet to chat about our recent read “Runt” on Monday 17th at 3.20pm in the 5H classroom. We will also choose a new book to read during Term 3. All interested students and parents/family members are very welcome.

Happy Reading
