APRE NEWS
Dear Parents and Carers,
As predicted, the end of term is looming but we have many "mountains to climb" yet before we get there. You will see some photos below, which will give some indication of what has been happening within the Religious Life of St Saviour's Primary School over the last week or so.
CONFIRMATION
YEAR 6 MASS
MINI VINNIES' APPEAL
Year 5 Mini Vinnies' Christmas Appeal has started. You are invited to send donations of non-perishable Christmas food items into school by Week 8. The Christmas Hampers will be presented to St Vincent de Paul Society at our final assembly in Week 9. Your generosity towards helping those in need is very much appreciated.
CATHOLIC MISSION VISIT:
On Wednesday this week, Emily Connors from Catholic Mission Australia visited SSPS for the afternoon and spoke with the Yr 4s, 5s and 6s. Emily spoke about her life in Ireland, before coming to Australia for a holiday (two years ago) and then taking up the position as Director of Mission Australia.
Emily spoke warmly about her visit to Cambodia, telling the students about how any small amount of money donated had a "ripple effect", bringing employment, education, independence and self-esteem to the local community. She also shared a story from Cambodia about how a Giraffe gives us a good model for Leadership as they have "clear vision" (being taller than all around), a "huge heart" and are "always calm".
She was thrilled to receive a cheque for $1000 from us, which was the total we raised through October and Socktober. Thank you all for your generosity.
SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM for 2021
I visited the Year 3 classrooms today to hand out a letter and an Enrolment Form to those students who are Baptised and may be interested in participating in the Sacramental Program (Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation) next year. Parents are asked to keep an eye out for these forms and to contact me via the school office if you do not receive any paperwork or you are after further information.
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Judy
