St Saviour's Primary Swimming Carnival 2021 

St Saviour’s Primary Swimming Carnival was held on the 2nd of February at Glennie Aquatic Centre. Students from Year Three to Six were involved in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly in both 50m and 25m events. The carnival concluded with a Year Six relay involving the four houses. All students put in a mammoth effort in both the swimming and the cheering on the day. It was a tough competition but Goretti was the overall winning house also winning the relay. Age champions for the day are listed below.  

• 9-year-old girls – Lily Brookman, Amelia Ellis (Runner-up), Akeer Adol (Runner-up) 
• 10-year-old girls – Mia Casagrande, Sophia Hooper (Runner-up) 
• 11-year-old girls – Emma Barram, Erin Ward (Runner-up) 
• 12-year-old girls – Harper Eagleson, Olivia Dunlop (Runner-up), Lydia Dull (Runner-up) 
• 9-year-old boys – Cooper Dunlop, Hugo Watson (Runner-up) 

• 10-year-old boys – Taylor Wann, Thomas Prust (Runner-up) 
• 11-year-old boys – Noah Sanders, Niklas Raeth (Runner-up) 
• 12-year-old boys – James Currie, Ethan Wilson (Runner-up) 

Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival 

On Wednesday the 10th of February 2020, St Saviour’s students competed in the Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival at Glennie Aquatic Centre. These students are to be commended for the way they represented their school in swimming and behaviour on the day. Students swam their hearts out and many students placed in the top four in their heats and relays.  Some of these students have been selected to participate in the Central Zone Swimming Carnival to be held on Wednesday 17th February.  

FREE Afterschool AFL Sessions (Prep – Year 3) 

AFL Queensland has been organised through sporting schools to deliver AFL sessions on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15pm – 4:00pm from the 17th of February 2021 to the 10th of March 2021 (four weeks). There are only 30 spots available for this opportunity for your child to come and try AFL in a fun and safe environment. The first 30 parents to email me will secure the spots for this afternoon activity. Please email brendan.luck@twb.catholic.edu.au. Please note that no teacher will be at these sessions and they will be run by a representative from AFL Queensland. 

FREE Afterschool Hockey Sessions (Year 3 – 6) 

Hockey Queensland has been organised through sporting schools to deliver Hockey sessions on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15pm – 4:15pm from the 16th of February 2021 to the 9th of March 2021 (four weeks). There are only 18 spots available for this opportunity for your child to come and try Hockey in a fun and safe environment. Please note that no teacher will be at these sessions and they will be run by a representative from Hockey Queensland. 

Fitness Club 

Fitness Club kicked off on Tuesday the 9th of February with over 50 students attending. Fitness Club is designed to improve students' fitness levels for the school Cross Country in Week Ten. It will run every Tuesday and Thursday until Thursday 25th March 2021. Fitness Club is for students in Year Three to six. Mr Luck, Mrs Wagner, Mrs McHugh and Mr Hannant will be running these sessions. Please make sure your child is on time if they wish to attend, as the sessions start with stretching and a warmup which need to be completed before participating. Zone and Darling Downs Trials 

All Zone and Darling Downs trials will be placed on Schoolzine. Please check Schoolzine regularly or set up notifications on your phone if you wish for your child to be eligible to trial for Zone and Darling Downs sporting teams as you will be required to obtain paperwork from me.
