Chess Club Competition

Individual Chess Competition

Congratulations to the thirteen children who competed in the Individual Chess Competition at Highlands Christian College on Tuesday 2nd March 2021.

Liam McHugh, Parker Bohm and Hugo Seaby (Year 3) all competed in the Novice Section (Years 1-3) in a pool of over 50 children from different schools.  This was their first time competing in an individual competition and they did themselves and their school proud.  Well done boys!

In the Open Section, there were over 200 competitors.  Several of our children competed for the first time – Bianca Flanigan, Kyara Flanigan, Isabel Hoole, Cooper Hoole, Jackson Horne and Annabelle Horne.  Along with them were also those that have competed previously -  Kruz Leifels, James Ottobrino, Kye McHugh and Sean Darvall.

All of the children secured at least one win, with 3 of our players making it to the ‘clock tables’.  Congratulations to Sean Darvall who came 5th overall and who received the medal for ‘Best Year 6 player’.

The students’ behaviour was exemplary, representing St Saviour’s well and they reported having an enjoyable day of chess.
