Middle Leader News
Dear Parents and Guardians,
A very warm welcome to all parents, new and returning! This year has looked a little different for us all, but it is full steam ahead in the learning department here at SSPS. It has been great to see so many keen faces back at school.
We are fortunate to have high attendance rates this week, but there is potentially going to be some times throughout the term where your children may be unwell or need to be in isolation. I thought I’d share a few ideas with you that you might find helpful for your child to continue with their learning while in isolation.
Reading
- As often as possible! Picture books, comics, online articles, the back of cereal boxes and novels Prep – Year 2 students have access to Reading Eggs, which is levelled to suit your child’s reading level and a great way to get them engaged in reading.
Writing
- Daily opportunities for writing – this could be writing in a journal, responding to a writing prompt (see some ideas below), writing a letter to someone or writing their own book.
Mathematics
- All students in Prep – 6 have access to Mathletics – an online Maths program with activities that the teachers can set for students to complete.
Play
- Probably most importantly, give your children opportunities to learn through play! Board games, card games, building a cubby, cooking – the opportunities are endless.
